Weston Favell Academy

Library resources

The library at Weston Favell Academy is the very heart of the school. Years 7 & 8 have a weekly reading lesson, so it is used in an academic capacity of course but what makes our library so special is the long line of students waiting to come in and use the space at break and lunch times. In these recreational periods it is a safe space to come to, a homework room, a learning resource centre, a meeting place, a boardgame haven among other things. All are welcome and are aided by a wonderfully enthusiastic team of student librarians and two members of staff.

We run after school clubs including the ever-popular Dungeons & Dragons club, which relies on creative storytelling, keen wit, and good knowledge of maths. The library runs termly reading competitions to win amazing prizes for progress in literacy, past prizes include Kindle tablets, smart speakers, book bundles etc.

We have over 10,000 books on our shelves here at the WFA Library as well as magazines and graphic novels. In addition, all students have access to over 5000 eBooks via our MyOn ELibrary. We are passionate about reading and welcome everyone through our doors where they find a place to read, relax and retreat.
