Weston Favell Academy

About

Welcome from the Senior Executive Principal

Welcome to Weston Favell Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT).  This is an incredibly exciting time for the Academy as we aim to develop young people who are excited by achievement, driven by aspiration and grasp every opportunity.  Collaboration is the best way to achieve this therefore we, the staff team, will actively:

  • Remove barriers to success
  • Ensure there is no ceiling to achievement
  • Engender a culture where excuses for underperformance do not exist

I find young people are most engaged when they are interested and excited by what they are learning.  This comes from high quality teaching and learning and at Weston Favell Academy, we are on a rapid journey of improvement.

All staff at the academy have high expectations and strive for quality and consistency so there are aspects of lessons which young people will see regardless of their age, ability or subject; they will always know what they are learning, why it is relevant and how they will know if they have succeeded.

With ever changing specifications weighted towards exams at the end of the course, it is very important that our preparation for exams is a marathon and not a sprint which is why we start early, building the knowledge, skills and resilience that our students need to succeed in life after compulsory schooling.

Having a highly skilled staff body is crucial to achieving this goal and so, like students, we all view ourselves as learners and we are here to improve what we do to be the best we can be. Regardless of a person’s role in school, they are given all the training and development they need so that there is a positive impact on students.

We would be delighted to welcome you to visit to see us ‘in action’, with confidence that you will receive a warm welcome from our staff and students.
