WFA becoming a nut free school
With effect from the new academic year 2024-25
As we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for all our pupils, we are writing to inform you about an important change in our school policy regarding food safety. Weston Favell Academy is taking swift action to become a nut free school and our food provider, Amey, will be implementing this change as pupils return for the new academic year.
This decision has been made in response to an increasing number of pupils with severe nut allergies. Even a small exposure to nuts can lead to life-threatening reactions and we believe that by eliminating nuts from our school, we can greatly reduce this risk and ensure the safety and well-being of all our pupils.
What This Means from 3rd September 2024:
- No nuts or nut products - please do not send any food items containing nuts or nut products (e.g. peanut butter, Nutella, granola bars with nuts) in your child's lunch or snacks.
- Alternative snacks - if you typically send nut-based products with your child, we encourage you to consider safe alternatives, such as fruits, vegetables, or other nut-free snacks.
We understand that this may require some adjustments, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all pupils. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy on 01604 402121 or email admin@westonfavellacademy.org.
